This award-winning engagement program brought together community and stakeholders to co-design a precinct development brief for this heritage site.
The sale of the heritage Gold Creek Homestead presented unique challenges for the Suburban Land Agency in the face of community concerns and a diverse range of stakeholders.
Suburban Land Agency bravely accepted the opportunity to codesign the Precinct Development Brief with community and stakeholders providing a commitment that the brief would form a meaningful component of the sale by tender assessment process.
Communication Link facilitated the Gold Creek Homestead Community and Stakeholder Panel from conception to the final drafting of the Precinct Development Brief.
This deliberative engagement exercise was enormously rewarding and brought together broad community expertise and views to codesign a Precinct Development Brief for the Gold Creek Homestead site.
Panel Members were recruited to be diverse while still representing the key stakeholders and near neighbours to the site. The Panel met three times over a period of six weeks to consider the community values of the site and working with place planning consultants, prepare the Precinct Development Brief based on the Panel's discussion and input.
The Precinct Development Brief was included in the sale documents for the site to ensure that community and historic place values are considered in the future of the site. The Brief carried a 50% weighting in the sale assessment process.
The site has now been sold and development planning is progressing. To understand more about this project visit the Suburban Land Agency website
