We developed and implemented a comprehensive communication and engagement, strategy to help shape the Garden City Cycle Route.
Communication Link was engaged to develop and implement a comprehensive engagement program for the development of the Garden City Cycle Route's final design. The project establishes a secure cycling pathway in inner north Canberra, connecting suburbs east of Northbourne Avenue and linking neighbourhoods, schools, local centres, and green spaces.
Recognising the importance of community involvement, we conducted targeted stakeholder consultations, addressing specific needs and priorities whilst safeguarding existing services, and enhancing overall accessibility and amenities. Engagement sought to gather diverse feedback without disadvantaging any community segment. Workshops, feasibility study reviews, and a multicriteria analysis were conducted to align with ACT government requirements, ensuring the project met cyclists' and the broader community's needs.
To offer a firsthand experience, we organised a cycling tour for stakeholders and the community. This unique event allowed participants to cycle along the route options, explore access points, and engage directly with the project team. This immersive approach informed stakeholders and fostered a sense of community ownership and involvement.
