Built a change and communication framework to support the transformation of office spaces for all Australian Defence Force members and Department of Defence personnel.
Communication Link provided strategic change management for a whole of organisation shift to Activity Based Work, including new buildings and secure, agile, and modern fit outs.
We adopted a people-centred approach to developing the change framework. We conducted 14 surveys with 500 respondents, delivered in-depth interviews with 27 people and identified 30 effective channels to communicate to staff groups. We utilised over 1700 data points to inform the development of the approach.
The ten-year Change Framework supported by an Integrated Delivery Model allows a consistent and long-term approach to implementing such significant change.
This change impacts the entire Defence environment, introduces new technology, and requires a significant cultural shift for people to think of work as an activity, not a place. The Change Framework delivered more than 70 education and change products including guides, cheat sheets, checklists, training tools, presentations, workshop packs for leaders, agendas, surveys and reporting tools. The complementary communication strategy included audience and channel identification, collateral, risk and issues assessment, research, surveys, and audience insights along with implementation plans.
This approach provides both a pathway and activities to drive change at the Department of Defence through to 2030.
